Robert Lankesheer (28th April 1914 – 29th December 1993) played the Medical Officer in the Dad's Army episode The Loneliness of the Long Distance Walker.

BiographyEdit

Early life and careerEdit

Robert Lankesheer was born in Southhampton. Whilst working for the local goverment in the land registry department, he took evening classes and qualifed as a lawyer. However WWII got in the way of of his future legal career and after Major Lankesheer was demobbed, he decided to take up acting instead.

Early acting careerEdit

Robert spent many years acting in rep companies around the country before he started appearing in various films and television programmes. He appeared on the screen in his first film The Malory Secret and television series At Your Service, Ltd. in 1951.

Final years and deathEdit

Robert Lankesheer died at the age of 79 on December 29th, 1993 in London.
